Innovative Low-Impact Materials

Simply put, a material that minimizes its environmental impact during the design and prototype stages results in less harm to the planet and naturally reduces harmful waste.

Grey Water Recycling Facility

One of KAVALAN's key advantages is its significant reduction in freshwater usage and consumption throughout its production processes. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) predict that by 2030, 40% of the global population will live in regions facing severe water shortages.

By utilizing its grey water recycling facility, KAVALAN filters and recycles freshwater, producing purified water that can be reused indefinitely, effectively minimizing reliance on freshwater resources.

Solar Energy Production

Taya's Shanghai facility has been steadily transitioning to renewable energy as its primary power source. In 2022 alone, it generated a record 500,000 kWh of electricity—enough to power all KAVALAN production lines five times over.

100% Recycled Packaging

KAVALAN has consistently used recycled materials for its outer packaging tubes, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. However, when it comes to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), there's a significant challenge: current global LCA databases lack sufficient data to accurately quantify the environmental benefits of using recycled materials.

As a result, the true reduction in Kavalan’s greenhouse gas emissions is likely even greater than what is currently reported, meaning our products are even more eco-friendly than advertised.

A tailored waste material management approach based on local conditions

At KAVALAN, we believe that sustainability is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Every region faces unique environmental challenges, regulations, and waste management infrastructure, which is why we’ve embraced a tailored approach to waste material management.

By adapting our strategies to align with local conditions, we ensure that our PVC-free materials are disposed of or recycled in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way possible. This approach allows us to maximize our positive impact on the planet, while empowering local communities to be part of the solution.
